Welcome to the Year 5 Penguins class. 

This year the Penguins Class is supported by Mrs Steel, Miss Neath and Miss Bent throughout different points in the week. 

School values

Throughout the school our priority is "the whole child" and to ensure we give the children the skills to go and achieve in all different areas of their life.

We give them opportunities to use the different school values throughout several different learning experiences every single day.

PE

Our P.E days this year are, every Tuesday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit on these days.   

Homework

Homework is given out weekly and will have a maths or GAPS focus.

It is expected that your child also reads 3 times a week and accesses times table rockstars/spelling shed. This will be marked on Wednesday. 

Please ensure that your child can access Google Classroom at home. 

Homework will be handed out on Tuesday and Thursday- However due to the LBQ codes- only lasting up to 24 hours- children only need to complete it once.  Children will receive 1 dojo for reading and 1 for LBQ homework. 

There will be opportunities to complete this during homework club every Friday lunchtime.

Bike ability

This year, the children will be taking part in Bikeability, helping them develop the skills, confidence and road awareness needed to cycle safely and independently. The start date is yet to be confirmed, but we will share further details once a date is confirmed.

A couple of points

If you would like your child to walk home on their own after school at any time of the year, please email the office or bring a signed permission slip. 

If your child has an appointment during school time, it is school policy to bring in a letter to the office for proof of the appointment.
