New Starters 2025
We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to you and your child as we prepare for the forthcoming school year at Kegworth Primary School in August. At Kegworth Primary, we believe every child is unique and has their own special contributions to make. Our aim is to encourage every child to reach their full potential while prioritising their well-being. We have a dedicated team that works diligently to provide support where needed, fostering a nurturing environment for all our children.
The outstanding results and improvements at our school are attributable to our hard-working staff, our excellent partnership with parents, and the wonderful children we serve. Together, we create a safe, calm and caring atmosphere that promotes a strong sense of community and a love of learning. We hold high expectations for our children and I am pleased to say that they consistently rise to meet these expectations.
Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to meet the needs and interests of our children, ensuring they are prepared for the next stages of their education. Our teachers employ innovative and engaging approaches to motivate students, emphasising critical thinking and inquiry-based learning. This method fosters a deep understanding of concepts while enhancing vocabulary. Additionally, we offer a variety of enrichment opportunities and leverage our connections with the local community, including partnerships with Kegworth Community Library, The Rotary Club, Nottingham Trent University, East Midlands Airport, and various local sports clubs. Our curriculum is further enriched through school trips to exciting destinations, such as Magna, White Post Farm and Bradgate Park.
Kegworth Primary takes pride in its commitment to sports, as evidenced by our Gold Schools Games Award and the distinguished PE Quality Mark. We provide a broad spectrum of sporting activities, including tennis, ice skating, gymnastics and swimming, in order to engage our children in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our children take part in competitive activities with other schools and benefit from the guidance of a sports coach during lunchtimes.
We are also pleased to offer a range of musical opportunities starting in Year 1, which includes drumming lessons and instrument instruction from peripatetic teachers. Our children can explore their musical talents in various performances, including choirs and seasonal productions. Additionally, our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) pupils participate in our Forest Schools programme and our Year 4 and Year 6 students enjoy residential trips that offer adventurous outdoor learning experiences.
For your convenience, we provide wrap-around care with a breakfast club starting at 7:30 am and after-school provision until 5:30 pm (4:15 pm on Fridays). This service is run by our familiar staff, ensuring that the children are comfortable and well-cared for.
Communication is key and we actively seek the views of parents and carers. Our closed Facebook group allows you to stay connected and see what your child is doing at school. Monthly newsletters are available on our website and sent directly to parents. Furthermore, teachers send home weekly ‘pre-learning’ to help you support your child's educational journey. For years 1 to 4, we provide homework grids that allow for flexibility in task completion, while in years 5 and 6, weekly homework prepares children for secondary school.
We invite you to meet your child’s class teacher at the beginning of the school year. We also host parents' evenings in October and February for discussions regarding your child's progress. Throughout the year, we offer various events such as reading cafes and sports days, which allow you to experience school life alongside your child. Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is also very active and we encourage your involvement in fundraising and community-building efforts.
If you have any concerns or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us via the school office. Our staff members are always eager to discuss aspects of your child’s education and overall well-being.
Together, we aspire for all our children to achieve their academic potential and develop into successful lifelong learners. We also aim for them to cultivate high levels of social and emotional intelligence, ensuring they are well-equipped to thrive in the future.
