Curriculum Year 2

Welcome to Year Two

This year in Year 2 we have the Zebras class, which will be taught by Miss Holland.

Miss Anderson and Mrs Cowling are the EYFS/Key Stage 1 Leads.

We are lucky enough to have our Learning Support Assistants helping with our learning: Mrs Farrand and Mrs Everard. Mr Woods will also be teaching in our classes every week.

Throughout the year, children will have lots of opportunities to interact with children and adults across the year groups.

At Kegworth Primary School we follow the National Curriculum. This is a large document which can be found online and details what should be covered in the curriculum at Primary School. The topic web below details more information about what the children are being taught each year.

We will be continuing to develop our school values in many different ways, and through a range of critical thinking questions we become amazing scientists, historians, geographers, artists and designers.

Children will have two PE sessions per week, run by the class teacher or Mr Woods. These sessions will be every Thursday and Friday for Year 2. Children can come to school in their PE kits on these days. PE kit needs to be weather appropriate as sessions may be outdoors.

For their homework, children need to complete three pieces of reading, which should be logged using Boom Reader, plus Times Tables Rockstar and Spelling Shed sessions. For these foundational skills to have an impact, little and often is more effective. All three elements of homework is monitored by the class teachers to ensure access is happening at home.

Weekly pre-learning is sent to parents/ carers every Friday for the week ahead to pass on information about what your child will be learning.

Please check our Facebook page and pre-learning information for updates, information and photos about what our classes have been learning in school.

If you have any questions or queries please speak to a member of staff at the start or end of school- we are always more than happy to help.

We are looking forward to the year ahead filled with lots of learning and lots of fun!

Miss Holland
